Design
Xiaomi has made some significant changes to the design of the Black Shark 3 compared to its predecessors. It has a glossy all-black design and it comes with a circular plastic camera module at the back.
We found the camera module to be very uncomfortable to hold for a long time. Also, we noticed it protruded a lot from the back of the smartphone. Moreover, the smartphone's power button is awkwardly placed on the right edge of the device. There is no IP water-resistance certification on the Black Shark 3.
The Black Shark 3 has a metal back but it is much more bulky and heavy compared to other smartphones with a metal back. The smartphone weighs 170 grams and it has a thickness of 9.1mm.
There is a power key and volume rocker on the right edge and the SIM tray is placed on the left edge of the smartphone. The right edge is also home to a 3.5mm headphone jack. In order to talk to someone, we had to remove the headphone jack before we could make the call.
