Samsung Galaxy M12 could be Samsung's first phone with Snapdragon 660
We all know that the Galaxy M series will not be branded as Galaxy M or Galaxy M10, but the budget lineup is expected to get the Galaxy M name to fit in with the Galaxy J, J7, and J5 series. Samsung might have hinted that it will be ready with its first M-series phone in China.
The phone will be called Samsung Galaxy M12. Interestingly, it's not the first time that the Galaxy M series will make an appearance on the web. At this year's CES, a photo of a Samsung device with the codename "Alpha" showed up on the internet. The phone was expected to be the Galaxy M10 but the speculations are now pointing towards the Samsung Galaxy M12.
We might also be looking at the first device from Samsung with the Snapdragon 660. The mid-range SoC is also present on the Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.1 Plus, and a few other mid-range phones from Samsung.
This doesn't really reveal the specs of the phone because even though the mobile brand has announced that it will be adopting Snapdragon 855, the Galaxy M series is based on Exynos chipsets, not the new premium Snapdragon 855, so the device will probably still be using the former.

Samsung's rumoured Galaxy M lineup is likely to come with a display size between 5.7- and 6-inches, an in-display fingerprint scanner and other upgrades over the previous devices in the series.
There is also a possibility that the company may launch a new smartphone with a front display, and still get away with calling it Galaxy M. The name M10 could work for the upcoming device as the company has already been using it for its low-end devices.
The Galaxy M-series will likely be introduced at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event, which will begin on February 25 in Barcelona. It will also be the first time that Samsung's Galaxy S series will not get an annual refresh, which means that the company will be focusing more on the M series, especially the lower end.
